David L. York: Voiceover & Audiobook Narration

Bio

I’ve been doing voice work since 1976, beginning in radio/TV, doing commercial voiceovers until the early 2000s. I done on-camera work for Public Television. As my education progressed, I received a PhD, began teaching university, moved to eLearning, and continued doing voice work for several online courses.

I left teaching in 2014 and began professional narration. I have a high-quality home studio. I love narrating nonfiction work and I have several training audiobooks in distribution.

I do volunteer work in Public-Domain nonfiction for LibriVox, serving the sight-limited population. I also foster rescued and abandoned puppies in my home!

Testimonials

“Narration was spot on for this topic.”

Laura Winzen

5.0 out of 5 stars Great practical guidance for shelter volunteers!
I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. I have volunteered in animal shelters in the past and wish I had had this book to listen to then. The narration is pleasant and the delivery was spot on. Did not distract me from the content. I will check out Deathe’s other books.

…the lilt of an awesome storyteller.”

Jill Cederburg

Mike Deathe has a wealth of knowledge on the topic and this book is a good distillation of the contents from his other books and years of dog training.
The narrator’s delivery has the lilt of an awesome storyteller. And for the most part, the narrator’s tempo and elocution enhance the listener’s ability to absorb what is being said. In the intro in particular, I also enjoyed a trailing chuckle appropriately placed. It’s not easy to get out the words with no mistakes, but with the right amount of passion in the delivery, so bravo!!

“If you are smart, you will call him!”

Mike Deathe, Author

Originally, I decided that I would narrate my own books… Well, that is a lot tougher than it looks, and through a mutual friend, I was introduced to David York, and no kidding, I had my first book completed, uploaded to Audible had an audiobook! Now that might sound like a referral, right? Maybe… but to me, the real referral is, I had him do the other seven and help with my podcast as well. He is easy to communicate with and works to help the client. If you are smart, you will call him!
